  • Treasured sins: Many run from God because they want to hang on to their treasured sins. They fear that a Christian's life is boring, and they'll miss out on all the things they can't do. But just the opposite is true. When you accept Jesus as your personal Saviour, you will experience freedom such as you have never known! You won't be weighed down by selfishness, resentment, fear and anger.
You'll feel like a prisoner that has just been set free! Your heart will be filled with joy and your shoulders light as a feather because you're no longer trying to carry heavy burdens. Ask God to forgive your sins, and commit your life to Him. There is nothing too great for God to forgive. Surrendering your heart and life to Jesus is the most liberating feeling in the world, and it's the only road to true happiness!
Father we thank you for the Holy Spirit, please fill us with with Your Holy Spirit. Lord please forgive us for anything that we have done that is not pleasing before You, wash and cleanse us. Father please draw us close to You. Lord may we walk in Your ways all the days of our lives. May we honour and glorify you in all that we do. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Dear Lord, we thank You for your protection and provision. Lord we thank You for loving us even when we are not worthy of Your love. We thank You that You don't treat us like we deserve. Lord we thank You for Your promises, may we always hold onto them.
“Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth into life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:14). "As it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man” (Luke 17:26).

Only a small proportion of earth's inhabitants will escape from the overwhelming deceptions of the last days and be saved. A little remnant, as always, will be more concerned about doing right than pleasing self, the crowd, or some other individual. The record of history consistently chronicles the story of that small company of dissenters who dared to reject the comfortable appeal of the crowd.

The majority seem never to be searching for truth so much as for a smooth, easy, convenient religion which will allow them to live as they please. To them any doctrine which demands self denial or a disciplined lifestyle is bad news. Sadly that majority involves most Christians.

The majority is usually wrong, and that they do not want to be told about their sins. We have also considered how difficult it is to tell that crowd how wrong they are. Right here it seems appropriate to read the words of Jesus, "Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God" (Luke 16:15).
“You will seek me and find Me when you search for me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13. God knows our hearts. If we sincerely seek Him, we will find our way to Him. Happy New Year everyone.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” —2 Timothy 3:16, 17

So Paul admits that not all of his writing are scripture then? He specifically prefaces certain parts of his writing admitting it is not from God but his own personal thoughs? So we can choose to throw those portions of his writings? I'm confused? Is it all inspired or not?

Paul is not saying any such thing and you know it. His opinions were based on scripture and The Holy Spirit used him and inspired all his writings. That is why they are in the Bible. All scripture is inspired..., not some of it. In both Testaments. One thing we learn as we grow in faith as Christians is we can fully trust God whether we understand His ways or not. He has proven beyond a doubt how much He loves us.
But equally important is to look at the verse in context with all other verses on the same subject. God's Word never changes, and certainly never contradicts itself. If we believe this, then we can have parameters for interpreting Scripture. God cannot lie. If He says one thing in one part of the Bible, He cannot be saying something else elsewhere. Only one understanding can be the right one.
When we study the Bible, we must not ignore parts of the Bible that don't suit us, or discard portions of the Bible as not applicable, or add our own words to it. If we come across a text that seems to contradict other texts, we can safely assume that we do not have a complete understanding of the doctrine that is being studied. Reading the text in context is important.

The new, "post-Christian" approach: "If that scripture offend thee, pluck it out." :)

I have safely assumed I don't understand a thing about Paul! Rather than pretend I do like most Christians, I choose to focus on Jesus Words only, because they are much less confusing and more applicable to real life.

Jesus' words are very important but so is the message in the whole Bible whether it was spoken by Jesus directly or not. You are missing out by picking and choosing who to focus on in the Bible. The Old and New Testaments exist for a reason and its all for our benefit. Isn't better to ask God for understanding of His Word?
