I don't know if there has been a thread on this show before but I want to make one because it seems to be really popular lately.

Euphoria is a show on HBO now in its second season. This is the description:

"An American adaptation of the Israeli show of the same name, "Euphoria" follows the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue, a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. Circling in Rue's orbit are Jules, a transgender girl searching for where she belongs; Nate, a jock whose anger issues mask sexual insecurities; Chris, a football star who finds the adjustment from high school to college harder than expected; Cassie, whose sexual history continues to dog her; and Kat, a body-conscious teen exploring her sexuality. As the classmates struggle to make sense of their futures, the series tackles the teenage landscape of substance-enhanced parties and anxiety-ridden day-to-day life with empathy and candor."

I haven't watched it but it seems to be very popular among people my age (I'm a teenager). And despite being a teen drama, it apparently has sex scenes involving the teenage characters! I'm just worried about how this series could be influencing my peers...

That show is crap. To begin with, Zendaya is probably the most overrated actress that ever existed.
Then I'm not sure if they try to be controversial for ratings or they have some agenda behind, but they have off camera sex between teenagers and adults, and they paint the adult as the victim.
And another character also painted as the victim is no other than  the drug dealer. Yup, that's right.
They don't have good actors, they don't have a good script, all they have is controversy.

It’s a pretty dark series, definitely. You’d want to take a shower after watching some of it. I will say this, Zendaya executes the emotional turmoil and actions of a drug addict perfectly. Like my bf and I watched it kind of amazed she had that kind of range. (Particularly In this latest season).

I can see that now the second seasoon is extremely popular and everyone talking about it on social media
so the new generation of teens are probably miserable because the show is depressing

Almost every character story plot has to do with sex, sorry but this is disgusting. I hate how this industry obsesses over kids sexuality as if it was the be all and end of teenagehood.
Forever side eyeing grown adults enjoying this show portraying teenagers having sex on the regular...how can you not be uncomfortable?? From the pics I've seen it's almost porn... I'm already uncomfortable seeing unecessary sex scenes with adults in movies, but the idea of pornish stuff is supposed to be teens. "but they are ADULT ACTORS!!" Ask you WHY they had to use adults actors to pull out this disgusting scenes to begin with. Meanwhile, the main audience of this show are kids and they do start to fancy all of this.

Call me weird but when I was in highschool I was more preoccupied by my grades and exams what I would do after graduating. I had actually hobbies (manga and anime lmao) that didn't involve having sex or caming. And regardless what this piece of propaganda of a show is pushing, this is the life of most teenagers of this planet, who aren't sexuality promiscuous or drug addicts. I hate how stories about teenagehood always have to involve reckless sex or drugs as if regular kids didn't exist anymore. That's propaganda aiming to normalize and push for that degeneracy

ps/ 100% positive the producer of this show (Sam Levinson) is a sex pest. Lots of people have the same vibe from him. Wouldn't be surprised he's outed for being a predator in a few years from now. Didn't he cast a porn star in the show fter she did a porn parody of euphoria? He's a deviant.

one of the actors said that the show wasn't glorifying all the the things they do, like they are showing the consequences... not quite sure this is how it works

From what I've heard, pretty much the whole main cast is terrible people, or at least people who do terrible things. But people are actually sympathizing with the characters and picking favorites. Despite being fictional some people seem to take this show very seriously o_O

No kids have already been corrupted a long time ago.

Is art a reflection of society or does it create it.

Its kind of an egg or chicken come first kind of thing. Hard to answer tbh, I'd say its a bit of both.

But if you think kids haven't long ago been corrupted generations ago with sex and drugs you are fooling yourself. Maybe the trans gender and gay thing is new but thats about it.

I agree with you about kids already being “corrupted” many moons ago! However, the representation of (my) LGBT community in the media is absolutely a modern phenomena, and I’m glad to see it, (personally), due to my own struggle as a teen-young adult accepting my own bisexuality.

Absolutely. As a teenager, it disgusts me how they portray teenagers as sex - obsessed druggies. This generation is corrupt and I miss the times when small, innocent children thought saying "stupid" was a bad word, were naive, respectful and kind. Now young children are swearing, being rude, teenagers think being obsessed with sex is normal and drugs is helping their lives.

It falls right in line with the other agenda-driving propaganda being produced in order to sexualize kids and force them to grow up quicker (while simultaneously presenting youth to adults as sexually available beings). It also follows the trend of taking extremely dangerous behavior and glamorizing/normalizing it (ex: HBO's lgbt-centric, STD and drug/emotional abuse promotional series "Looking"). The following article doesnt address the Euphoria series specifically, but it does expose much of the backstory behind these specific media agenda's.

*yawn* Yeah everyone do knows the corruption of teenagers has started a while ago, never said it didn't, why are you putting words into my mouth?
Keyword is "fancy". The glamorizing of toxicity and reckless sex. I mean, look at these girls, their fashion, their make up... they are made to look as appealing as possible for the 15 y.o girls of the TikTok era : glitter make up, 90s retro fashion (+micro skirts and showing cleavage AT SCHOOL LOL)

"Euphoria" isn't "art" btw lol. This is literally trash covered with glitter and fancy neon lights
And yes "society" -or more like the influential demonic entertainment system- breeds chaos. 15 y.o girls didn't suddenly wake up and decided to make porn video to sell to old perverts. Hell, that mess doesn't exist on other non Western countries (yet), which is a testimony that the issue is cultural, not #weliveinasociety

Thankfully others actually understood my point and grasped how sneaky this show was for using the excuse of "exposing toxic behavior" while doing everything to make them fancy. And let's no forget its whole trans thing + promotion of underage prostitution, which is new.
Sorry but reckless sex and toxic behavior has never been so strongly pushed at teenagers. Prostitution is literally being marketed as something empowering. A porn actress has been hired after being scouted on a porn parody of Euphoria ffs (which means the director knew what he was doing....). The lines have never been that much blurred between porn and teen-oriented show. I totally believe by the year 2050 p***philia will be made legal somewhere in America.

So an actual porn actress was hired to the set of Euphoria after she was "discovered" in a porn-parody of the series? I agree, such a huge red-flag warning that HBO and the shows creators are "in on it" from the base of operation to the top of their project. And I dont think you will have to wait until 2050... you better believe that once the economies are collapsed and the attempt to implement the "grand reset" is in-play, a large component of said agenda will be the attempt to legalize pedo activities.

If so, I hope I would've been dead and went to heaven by then.

Zendaya displayed some good acting in season 2, especially in the 5th episode where she's going through withdrawal. It was very hard to watch, and you genuinely felt bad for her; and especially her family which is a sign that she was actually convincing.
But yeah I agree, the sex scenes and nudity is way over the top and teh show is basically softcore porn. Even people who are fans of the show are complainign about the unecessary nude/sex scenes.
The show is also written by only one man, rather than a writer's room, so it's like a fantasy of a creepy middle-aged man about teenagers.
If I remember correctly one of the teenage girls loses her virginity with a man in his thirties, and the narration says that "she was totally in control of the situation". Idk if it was meant to be ironic/satirical but it's creepy. It's statutory r*pe, plain and simple. There are many fucked up things about the show that never get adressed, and instead are dismissed as unconsequential.
I don't think there will be another season tho since everyone on twitter was talking about how shitty the writing had become. it was actually quite funny

Yes, they're paid to say thise things. One actress claimed that she didn't feel exploited by all the unecessary nudity she had to do last season. I mean...

In non western countries, the young girls are being exploited and agree to sell their bodies in exchange for money. So yeah, it exist in other countries too, where very young girls prostitute themselves and/or do porn. The difference is just in how they're pushed in selling their bodies but it exists everywhere. In the western world exploitation exist under the guise of "empowerment". But the reason prostitution exist is becasue there is a demand. Ultimately it benefits the men who pay for underaged prostitues/sex workers.
I've seen in an article that teen porn was one of the most searched categories. So ephebophilia is quite common amongst men.
Teen girls are heavily fetishized. I was thinking abt it the other day; I got hit on by men more as a teenager than now as an adult.

I also live in the west but come from a third world country. And many older men go there to do sex tourism. It's a huge issue there. They take advantage of economically vulnerable young girls. And girls as yougn as 12 have to enter prostitution to earn a living. Because higher education is too expensive, and there aren't many jobs.
So their only prospect to either sell their bodies through prositution (to several men) or in marriage (to one man).
So again, we need to look at the responsibility of the clients/the men who pay for the exploitation to keep going. I always wondered if sex work could be ethical in a world where there is no exploitation and poverty. And no power dynamics btw men and women. Could that be possible ? I have my own opinion abt this, but I've always wondered what other people think.
Wow, this is an outstanding post. As to your question at the end "I always wondered if sex work could be ethical in a world where there is no exploitation and poverty. And no power dynamics btw men and women." I think in that type of world, sex work wouldnt even be necessary. Which is just one of the myriad of reasons the powers that be work so hard to keep this horror now functioning as our current, shared "reality" from being exposed and confronted.

i used to love zendaya but i agree she's overrated plus she sold out so she's irrelevant to me now.

and with the amount of nudity and pornography in that show i've always thought that it's trying to groom and desensitize kids and teens who watch it into sex. for example there's a scene in the second season where elliot teaches jules how to eat pu$$y with his hand.

this is one of the t.v. posters for the show and if you look at the right on the wall next to the picture you see a giant eyeball so there's clearly an agenda being pushed through that show

I like zendaya but unfortunately she's a sell out to the western media. She has to explore and indulge into adult series to boost her popularity, or nah uh

There appears to be some strange "eye/heart/vagina in the middle of hands" design juxtaposed aross that large eye, diagonal from it and across the bedframe headboard.
