Neuralink Implant Competitor Begins Clinical Trials

Startup Synchron has announced the launch of a recruitment of patients to conduct clinical trials of its neural implant, writes Businesswire.

The implant is also aimed at people with movement disorders. It will allow paralyzed patients to control electronic devices, such as computers and smartphones, with the power of thought.

The device is completely integrated into the body, but not into the brain, but into the jugular vein. In this case, there is practically no surgical intervention and the risk of tissue rejection is reduced.

Synchron hopes that this simplified approach will be more accessible to more people.

Synchron received approval from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agency for human testing in 2021. The project is supported by billionaires Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates.
