If by directive, you mean an order to follow Christ's Example if you wish to come to the Father? Then yes.
Luke 6:40 The disciple is not above his Master: but every one that is perfect shall be AS his Master.
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven IS perfect.
Note: Matthew 5:48 above is a better example of a directive.
Anyone who claims that their god is a "trinity" is worshiping a FALSE deity. The reason Christ prays to Father is because Father is Christ's Father (Creator) and Christ's God, just as God is our Father (IF we do His Will) and our God (IF we follow His Law/Commandments).

Belief in the "trinity" (a pagan concept and doctrine) therefore breaks the First and Most Important COMMANDMENT (Exod. 20:3-6), reiterated by Christ in summary form below:
Mark 12:29-31
12:29 And Jesus answered him, The First of all the Commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is ONE Lord (Deut. 6:4):
12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength and serve Him ONLY: this [is] the first COMMANDment.
12:31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other COMMANDment greater than these.
ONE actually means ONE; it doesn't mean three, nor 3=1, nor 1+1+1=1, nor any of the other nonsensical trinitarian confusion. Father (God) is THE MOST HIGH (and the ONLY One Who is ALL-Powerful, ALL-Knowing and Present Everywhere at ALL times), and is Christ's God, exactly as Christ repeatedly said.
The reason you don't understand is because you repeat lies, like the one above. The ONLY Way anyone can overcome their sinful nature is to be reborn from above of God. It is God and His Holy Spirit (our connection to God, NOT a third member of some fabricated 3=1 nonsense) that write His Law in one's heart and mind, IF they will take the time and make the effort to get to know God.
God will help each and every one who comes to HIM (but NOT those who mock Him by giving His Glory to satanic 3=1 confusion), listens to Him and KEEPS HIS COMMANDMENTS. How could anyone actually DO God's Will until they learn to follow His COMMANDS?
Actually you have it exactly backwards. That is what every single "Christian" is doing in every single denomination, sect, cult, etc. of the organized religion known as "Christianity", which is FILLED with FALSE christs/false teachers, etc., seeking Christ in the very churches/temples, etc. that Christ condemned, from the very people that Christ said were "the blind leading the blind". How can anyone even call themselves a so-called Christian priest, pastor, etc. when Christ said there is NO SUCH THING (Matt. 23:8-10)?
The reason that Satan has sent all of these false christs/false teachers/false priests/false pastors, etc. is to try to hide the REAL Christ Who, exactly as He prophesied, would be here NOW, in a new body with a NEW NAME. How else could the body Christ is currently using die, at which time the "Eagles" (the heavenly host) be gathered together, when Christ is seen coming in the "clouds" with them in SPIRITUAL form?
Matthew 24:27-28
24:27 For as the lightening cometh out of the East, and shineth even unto the West; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the "sun" be darkened, and the "moon" shall not give her light, and the "stars" shall fall from heaven, and the "powers of the heavens" shall be shaken:
24:30 And then shall appear the Sign ("Star") of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall ALL the tribes of the Earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the "Clouds" of heaven with power and great glory.
