Nice analysis; right on point about the “glorification” of women such as Kim Kardashian appearing out of literally nowhere and; like Paris Hilton, became “famous” for making a (lame) porn tape. Now, if an “unknown” woman chose to make a porn tape, and her, let’s say “conservative,” or “religious” family discovered it; obviously they would attempt to both shame & defame her. The false-nightmare of a “video” WAP by Cardi B. & “Meghan thee Stallion” was created by the patriarchy to promote prostitution, and to glorify it. Now how is it so called “empowering” to lie on your back in exchange for money to allow any Tom, Dick, or Harry penetrate you REALISTICALLY against your will? To me, it’s to put it bluntly, paid r*pe. It’s an extremely intimate act, and every escort and stripper I have spoken to have to disassociate from said reality by being drugged/drunk out of their minds. The feminist movement of the 60’s occurred when oppressed/severely limited/fed up/brave women got together and created a liberating revolution for us women. It seems to me, that the backlash of that revolution (that gives us women the rights we had to FIGHT for.. we are not BORN with these rights like (especially) Caucasian men are. In this day and age, the negative, oppressive message aimed at vulnerable young women is “first and foremost-be a sex object. It’s apparent due to garbage like WAP and countless, countless other crappy “music videos.” The current sexist, misogynistic “powers that be” are definitely on a mission to dismantle all of the hard work that the brave feminists accomplished in the 60’s, and “put us back in our proper place-sex objects..” Notice the media does NOT stress for up and coming young women to focus on financial independence, spirituality, self defense (in a violent world where femicide is more common than I care to think about). We as women are silenced, told to “act lady like” (be a sucker, push over, don’t curse, talk back, get loud if we have to defend ourselves (or if we just feel like being loud for the hell of it..) I used to have very short hair, for example, and was told here and there by inappropriate, oppressive dick heads that “real women have long hair,” for example. Seriously? It’s not 1950 anymore, and us women have to not be afraid to SPEAK UP, defend ourselves, carry protection, and protect ourselves. “Daddy knows best” days are long gone. We once had extremely limited choices for careers. Not every woman is cut out to be a housewife and bear children. As a feminist, I believe it’s every woman’s choice to live as she pleases. I can’t agree with you regarding your opinion regarding “Sodom & Gomorrah,” because I’m spiritual; not religious. But I do respect your acknowledgment of the horrendous, oh, I honestly am so disgusted by the mere concept of that trashy, pro-low life, bullshit & extremely misleading video WAP I have no words to express how utterly pathetic & misogynistic it is. The fact that it even exists makes me seriously concerned for all of the impressionable & naive young women who have seen it, and think that that’s a decent way to make money & “live.” They will be selling their souls for money (which can be obtained successfully in SO many more positive & empowering ways. I am NO prude, but engaging in prostitution opens a woman up to catching deadly diseases, it will definitely hurt her psychologically, and… if she is unlucky enough to have an encounter with a client that goes terribly wrong (her life could be ended by him…) Material things are always replaceable; but us as human beings (just made with simple flesh and bone) lives are NOT.
