Appropriate for Wiki, yes... kind of-- but the speed with which articles of this nature
(along with longstanding medical definitions like immunization) are being "updated" is
alarming.

State Bill Outlaws Use Of Fetuses In Food Industry

HEK 293 - BILL 2012
It seems like Taste-Testing was the issue in 2012-- which the bill also sought to outlaw-- but read the article, and you will see why the bill's author likely saw that as a precursor to the introduction of HEK 293 into our food products.
Reasonable foresight, imo.
Article by NPR is surprisingly candid, but still... take it with a grain of salt.
It's probably much worse.
FORBES Response (2012)
Nothing but damage control.
"... no new fetal tissue is being used"
"... a tiny company"
"... they’re used in the development of drugs and vaccines."
As though Tiny Companies can't do great damage, and time causes the evil of forced abortions to just fall off (or something?)-- that they are used in drug development has NOTHING to do with its addition to food products.
Good stuff-- thanks for posting,
@Daze
